Today we have a consultation with a surgeon for potential surgery to repair Dexter’s right hind leg. A step ladder collapsed under him while walking out of the dog washing station in my apartment complex. His kneecap has been popping in and out of place and after a couple of weeks of rest and anti-inflammatory it is still happening. Especially on slick floors if he turns or applies too much torque to that rear hindquarter. To make matters worse his birthday is next week, sad. Dexter out at Shelby Farms in Memphis:

Poor buddy. Fortunately knee surgeries for dogs are pretty common these days. Not cheap but there are usually 2-3 options per issue. Just make sure you follow the post surgery instructions. My mom works for a vet that specializes in surgery. They do a ton of knee surgeries. She told me the only issue they have is owners not following instructions.

Some examples: not leaving the cone on. Dog licks incision and reopens it or it gets infected. Infection means repeat trips to the vet and expensive meds/treatments. Another big no no is people will let their dogs run around and the issues that follow (varies by surgery) and then the dog re injures itself or hurts something else.

We are seeking compensation by the complex for negligent installation of facilities. Especially considering there is no verbage stating liability in the pet spa area.
